Overview:
Educators can now have students complete Finding Focus content all together as a class by using “Classroom Mode” within their Educator Account. Classroom Mode allows teachers to project the content to the entire class on a large screen, which may lead to more interactive discussion, more engagement, and no need for individual devices. We recommend trying Classroom Mode for lessons to see if it works well with your students.
How to Launch Classroom Mode:
To facilitate Classroom Mode, log into your Educator Account and select the relevant class, then click on the "Foundations of Focus" tab. Click "Classroom Mode" and choose which lesson you’d like to project on a large screen. Then you’ll be prompted to select which students are absent. All other students will receive credit. When completing lessons in Classroom Mode, we suggest utilizing our pre-made worksheets which include the exact questions they would see if they were completing the lesson individually. The worksheets also include the discussion questions if you’d like to facilitate a more in-depth dialogue after the lesson is done. Here is the educators’ copy of the Discussion Guide.
How to Distribute the Optional Worksheets:
Before starting a lesson, you can distribute the worksheets to students either digitally or using printed paper copies. To distribute the worksheets digitally, here are our recommendations:
- Make a copy of the worksheet as a new Google Doc. Feel free to make changes to your copy.
- Open Google Classroom and go to the class you want to assign your copy of the worksheet to. Click on the “Classwork” tab, then click “Create” and choose “Assignment”.
- Under “Attach”, select “Google Drive” and find your copy of the worksheet. In the dropdown menu next to the file, you have three options: Students can view the file (they can only read it); students can edit the file (all students can edit the same file), or Make a copy for each student (each student gets their own copy to edit). For this purpose, choose "Make a copy for each student", then click “Assign” to assign it to your students. Now, each student will have their own digital copy of the worksheet to fill out in Google Docs. They can complete the assignment and turn it in directly through Google Classroom!
